About the Role
The Early Learning Coordinator facilitates the district's Child & You program, empowering families with children ages 4–6 to improve kindergarten readiness. This role plans and executes developmental screenings, parent education, and community partnerships, ensuring equitable access to early learning resources. The coordinator leverages digital engagement tools to monitor program efficacy and maintain communication with diverse family populations.
Responsibilities
- Program Coordination & Management:
- Implement district-approved Child & You curriculum and instructional practices to improve student outcomes.
- Coordinate scheduling, logistics, and material distribution for all parent education and family engagement events.
- Maintain accurate records in compliance with district data privacy standards and grant reporting requirements.
- Analyze program participation data to identify service gaps and monitor program effectiveness.
- Community Engagement & Equity:
- Build positive relationships with parents, caregivers, and community partners to support student transitions into kindergarten.
- Actively recruit and retain diverse families, ensuring the Child & You program reflects the needs of the community.
- Connect families with vital external resources, including preschools, early intervention, health services, and library networks.
- Collaborate with elementary schools, Family Engagement Centers, and Community School Coordinators to synchronize kindergarten registration and "Kickoff" events.
- Instructional Facilitation:
- Deliver parent education classes focused on child development, literacy, executive functioning, and positive parenting strategies.
- Administer developmental screenings, assisting families in navigating milestones and specialized support services.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education & Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, Family Studies, Human Development, or a related field is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Family Studies, or Social Work is preferred.
- Experience:
- Two (2) years of experience working with young children and families in an educational or community outreach setting is preferred.
- Experience facilitating parent education or adult learning programs is preferred.
- Knowledge & Skills:
- Early Childhood Development: Mastery of kindergarten readiness benchmarks and child development milestones.
- Adult Facilitation: Proven ability to teach and engage adult learners in a supportive, culturally responsive manner.
- Digital Literacy: Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and district-specific information systems for tracking student/family data.
- Collaborative Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to bridge relationships between diverse family units, school staff, and community agencies.
Decision Making & Interaction
- Program Planning: Authority to select and adapt community engagement strategies that align with district goals for kindergarten readiness.
- Resource Allocation: Authority to prioritize program materials and event resources within the established budget.
- Non-Supervisory Interaction: Works daily with parents, caregivers, preschool/elementary staff, principals, and community partners to coordinate services and resolve barriers to family participation.
Budget Responsibility
Monitors program supply expenditures and assists in the management of allocated community partnership funds.
Working Environment
- Work is performed in a variety of settings, including school buildings, Family Engagement Centers, and community locations.
- Requires frequent travel between school and community sites in all types of weather and air quality.
Physical Requirements
- Communication: Must be able to exchange accurate information with families and staff in person and over the phone.
- Mobility: Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach to manage instructional materials. Must be able to navigate various community/school environments.
- Vision: Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception for monitoring classroom/event safety.
- Lifting: Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Pay
Salary Schedule: ESP (72), Lane Placement: gg. Hourly only, up to 29 hours per week.
