Location: Thomas Jefferson High School, Council Bluffs Community School District

Hours: 7:25 a.m. – 3:25 p.m., 8.0 hrs/day

Endorsement required: 5–12 Family & Consumer Sciences

Salary

$50,012 (BA/0 years of experience) and increases based on degree and experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, standards-aligned Family & Consumer Sciences curriculum to high-school students.
• Plan, prepare, and assess lessons that cover topics such as nutrition, child development, personal finance, textiles, and culinary arts.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive classroom environment that fosters critical thinking and real-world application.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and community partners to enhance student learning and program relevance.
• Manage classroom resources, equipment, and facilities responsibly.
• Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school-wide initiatives.

Requirements

• Valid Iowa teaching license with a 5–12 Family & Consumer Sciences endorsement.
• Bachelor’s degree in Family & Consumer Sciences Education or related field.
• Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
• Strong communication, organization, and classroom-management skills.
