Family Advocate/Case Manager

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $20.00 to $26.00 per hour. The listed range reflects what we reasonably and in good faith expect to pay for this role at the time of posting the position. The actual compensation an employee is offered may vary based on several factors such as experience, education, licensure, certifications and qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Supporting victims’ rights and coordination of services and court preparation for child victims and their families for all cases referred to the Children's Advocacy Center.
• Multidisciplinary team responding to allegations of child sexual/severe physical abuse, neglect, or witness to domestic violence.
• Establishing and maintaining connections with mental health/community providers to assess scope of service, credentialing, and insurance.
• Forming a supportive relationship, conducting informal assessments, providing case coordination and case management for children and family members as needed.
• Refer non-offending caregivers and family members to appropriate clinical services based on assessed need.
• Supporting ongoing victim and family advocacy needs and acting as a primary source of communication between victims and the criminal justice process.
• Providing victims and families with information regarding legal issues, child abuse, systems, and roles.
• Aiding families with victim compensation needs and application, issues related to court procedures, court hearings, and being present to support families at court proceedings as necessary.
• Supporting victims during medical exams, forensic interviews, working with police, and maintaining relationships with families such that if/when community support is needed (i.e. housing, school issues, etc.), the advocate can accompany and support the non-offending caregiver to meetings/appointments as deemed appropriate.
• Advocating for victims/families in case triage and case review MDT meetings.
• Executing mental health referrals, providing crisis management as needed, and assisting with mental health service delivery, tracking, and mental health capacity building program.
• Maintaining required documentation in NCAtrak (or any other tracking system) and maintaining accurate tracking, charting, and documentation of all referred cases.
• Assisting with community outreach, education, and professional development training as needed.
• Assisting with agency functions related to operations and service delivery.
• Participating in agency fundraising, grant writing, and other documentation and statistical requirements as needed.
• Participation in fundraising events during the day and evening is required.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology or related field, plus a working knowledge of the criminal and civil court system and victim’s rights laws.
• Good organizational, communication, and networking skills a plus.
• Proficient with computer skills.
• Bilingual candidates are preferred (Spanish or Portuguese).
• Minimal physical effort generally required to perform work in an office environment; required to stand, walk, listen, and talk for long periods of time; occasionally may lift up to 30 pounds, such as audio-visual equipment, moving tables and chairs, and setting up for special events.
