About the role

The Family Advocate position at this organization focuses on supporting families involved with the Florida Department of Children and Families. Key responsibilities include building natural supports for families, providing linkage to resources, conducting home visits, and implementing the Nurturing Parenting Curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the Safe at Home team to build natural supports for families.
  • Provide linkage to formal and informal resources for clients.
  • Ensure child safety needs are met while offering family strengthening interventions.
  • Maintain and manage assigned client families, implementing the Nurturing Parenting Curriculum.
  • Conduct home visits with parents, caretakers, and at-risk children, reporting safety concerns and progress updates.
  • Teach parents and children conflict resolution skills.
  • Aid parents in addressing their children's and their own special needs.
  • Help families access community resources.
  • Document all activities, including phone calls and home visits, within required timeframes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with 2 years of experience in direct services to children, youth, or families.
  • Successfully complete the Nurturing Parenting Curriculum Training.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to form alliances with community organizations.
  • Flexible schedule and on-call rotation.
  • Personal vehicle for travel and client transport.
  • Ability to work under stress and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license with auto insurance.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of childhood development and effective parenting skills.
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment.
  • Pass background screening and drug testing.

Pay

$18.00 per hour.

Schedule
