Falls Clinical Consultant

This is a 12-month parental leave cover, full-time role at 80 hours per fortnight (including an Accrued Day Off), open to both nursing and allied health staff at the Allied Health Professional Grade 4 or Registered Nurse Clinical Nurse Consultant level. The position is based at Alfred Hospital.

About Us

Nursing Services oversees the professional governance and practice standards of the Nursing Workforce at Alfred Health, including professional standards, codes of conduct, nursing research, scope of practice, quality systems, education, training, and workforce development. The Nursing Quality team consists of Nursing and Allied Health members who collaborate to ensure patient care is evidence-based and patient-centred, informed by the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards, specifically Comprehensive Care and relevant Clinical Care Standards. The team takes an integrated approach to identifying patient needs and preventing harm related to falls, pressure injuries, nutrition, mental health, and delirium/cognitive impairment.

About The Role

Working within the Nursing Services team and the Alfred Health Falls Committee, this role will serve as a clinical specialist, leading and developing the clinical management of falls prevention and management. Key responsibilities include:

• Coordinating and supporting a multi-faceted, evidence-informed, and sustainable approach to preventing patient harm within Alfred Health.
• Developing, implementing, and evaluating education and quality improvement initiatives to increase the capability and capacity of the clinical workforce.
• Actively collaborating with clinical teams and within the organisation’s governance framework to optimise patient outcomes.

About You

• Allied Health Practitioner or Registered Nurse with current Australia Health Practitioner Regulation Agency registration (or equivalent for non-registered Allied Health professions).
• Advanced clinical knowledge and skills in falls assessment, prevention, and management.
• Post-graduate qualifications (or working towards) in allied health, nursing, or a relevant field.
• Commitment to quality and safety activities, research processes, and their application to practice.
