About the Role

PollutionProfile is a mission-driven mobile app company that shows people how exposure to toxins impacts their lives and what they can do to heal from and limit exposure risk. We're a small team, so interns work directly with the founder on projects that ship. There’s no busywork—we don’t have the budget for it. We're opening 4 positions across 3 tracks. One application covers all tracks—indicate your preferred track when applying.

Tracks

TRACK 1 — PRODUCT RESEARCH & USER TESTING (1 position)

  • Design a research plan for a specific app feature, recruit and screen participants, conduct sessions, and identify patterns.
  • Deliver a research plan, four completed participant sessions, a findings report with prioritized recommendations, and three short videos (how-to walkthrough and behind-the-scenes content).
  • Good fit: UX research, human-centered design, psychology, public health, communications, or anthropology. Experience interviewing people is key; comfort on camera and basic video editing are a plus.

TRACK 2 — MARKETING CAMPAIGN & ANALYSIS (2 positions)

  • Define target audiences and success metrics, create content (social posts, short-form video, captions, outreach copy), and run direct outreach to communities, educators, and organizations.
  • Deliver a written campaign plan, a published content library, and a results analysis.
  • Good fit: Marketing, communications, journalism, design, or public health comms. Bring a sample of your work.

TRACK 3 — PROGRAM SYSTEMS: CHANGEMAKERS (1 position)

  • Run the Changemakers ambassador program and build operational systems, including an onboarding kit, meeting templates, an engagement calendar, and a playbook of successful strategies.
  • Deliver a Changemakers operating kit and a short written wrap-up.
  • Good fit: Program management, education, nonprofit management, communications, or public health. Experience running student orgs, planning events, or coordinating volunteers is ideal.

What You’ll Leave With

  • A finished portfolio piece.
  • Regular 1:1s with the founder and a written final assessment.
  • A reference letter, if your work merits one.
  • Documentation for academic credit, if applicable.

Academic Credit

Optional. We’ll provide documentation for internship or practicum credit if your school requires it. Note: At ~70 hours over the semester, most schools grant 1 credit rather than 3.

Terms

  • Remote, US-based.
  • Schedule: 4-5 hours/week, September 8 – December 11, 2026.
  • Compensation: $550 fixed fee per position, paid on completion. Independent contractor role—you’re responsible for taxes.

How to Apply

Apply through our form. It takes ~20 minutes and covers all tracks. Applications close August 21, 2026. Interviews the week of August 24. Program starts September 8. Questions? Email mike@pollutionprofile.com.
