About The Role

As an Associate you will join a team of thinkers and problem-solvers who provide data-driven insights in high-stakes legal, business and policy matters. You will support expert teams by sourcing and curating large and complex datasets, evaluating market structure and conditions, building econometric models, forecasting future outcomes and preparing clear, rigorous work product for clients and expert reports. You will build technical skills and contribute to work that shapes important legal and business outcomes. What You'll Do

  • Conduct economic, financial, statistical, and industry research to support client engagements.
  • Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, test hypotheses, and develop data-driven insights.
  • Support damage assessments, asset valuations, market analyses, forecasting exercises, and regulatory or litigation-related evaluations.
  • Assist with the preparation of expert reports, presentations, exhibits, and other client deliverables.
  • Develop a practical understanding of industries, markets, legal claims, and business issues relevant to each engagement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Business, or a related analytical field, with an expected graduation date between Winter 2026 and Summer 2027.
  • 3.6 GPA or higher preferred.
  • Demonstrated interest in applying analytics to business, legal, regulatory, or policy questions.
  • Strong quantitative, research, problem-solving, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, client-service environment.
  • Attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Experience with statistical, econometric and programming tools such as Excel, Stata, R, Python, SQL or similar platforms is preferred.
  • Fluency with AI tools is desirable.
  • Candidates must be able to submit verification of their legal right to work in the United States, without company sponsorship now or in the future.

Practice Areas

Associates are hired to support project work aligned to one of BRG's practice areas, though there may be flexibility to work across multiple practice areas. Candidates can select a preferred practice area as part of the application process.

  • Antitrust & Competition: Experts apply learning from industrial organization, econometrics and microeconomic theory to provide testimony in matters involving antitrust litigation and merger reviews. Project teams frequently evaluate industry conduct and assess antitrust liability, calculate damages from anticompetitive conduct and build simulation models to understand the impacts of proposed mergers.
  • Construction: Specialists in data analytics, litigation support, claims/dispute analysis, scheduling/logistics management and expert witness testimony within the construction, engineering, and architectural fields. Teams support clients through budget and payment advisory, loss assessment and valuation, estimations and takeoffs, and insurance and damages claim valuations.
  • Consumer Protection, Product Liability & Environment: Experts are regularly engaged in matters involving claims of consumer fraud, product liability, false advertising, data privacy and data breach, and alleged violations of environmental and natural resource law. Associates employ techniques from microeconomic theory, econometrics, marketing and environmental and resource economics to address class certification, liability and damages.
  • Energy & Climate: Renowned for deep expertise in international energy arbitration and litigation, the team supports major energy companies through all stages of dispute resolution, including commercial, investor-state, and regulatory matters. Conducts rigorous market research, economic modeling, and detailed reporting.
  • Healthcare Analytics and Disputes: Tackles complex legal and operational challenges in the healthcare industry using data-driven, objective, and innovative approaches. Experts lead litigation, advisory and risk management matters, combining deep healthcare industry expertise with data analytics, economic and financial modeling.
  • International Arbitration: Experts provide testimony regarding valuation and damages before arbitration panels around the world. They regularly present oral and written evidence in proceedings involving disputes between investors and governments concerning investors' expectations, regulatory regime changes, indirect expropriation, sovereign insurance claims and damages quantification.
  • Intellectual Property: Experts and academic affiliates regularly testify on damages, trademark confusion, irreparable harm and commercial success. Associates in this practice regularly build econometric models of market prices, analyze survey data and the results of choice experiments and assist with the preparation of expert reports and other client deliverables.
  • Securities & Financial Markets: Experts are routinely engaged by law firms and corporations to work on securities class actions, derivatives and structured finance, transfer pricing and illiquid debt and complex securities. They specialize in SEC, NASDAQ, and NYSE investigations, securities valuation, share price modelling, and commodities trading matters and allegations of collusion in financial markets.

Locations

Associates will primarily be hired in locations like Boston, Washington DC, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area. There are also a limited number of opportunities in smaller offices like Tampa and Pittsburgh. Associates are expected to work a minimum of 3 days per week from an office, though we highly encourage new Associates to work from the office as often as possible.

Pay

Salary Range: $85,000 - $100,000
