Fall 2026 New Graduate Nurse Residency, Rehab Unit (IRC)

About the Role

The registered professional nurse (RN) is responsible for the direct and indirect total nursing care of assigned patients, as well as the supervision of assigned personnel. This position requires knowledge of department and hospital policies and procedures relevant to nursing care delivery. The role involves interpretive skills, frequent interaction and consultation, and management and supervisory responsibilities. Effective communication—written, auditory, or visual—is essential, along with strong spoken, telephone, and manual dexterity skills.

Requirements

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Virginia Department of Health Professions or Compact State Licensure in Nursing
• BLS certification (ACLS or PALS may substitute per American Heart Association Guidelines)
• New graduates or nurses new to a practice area have one year to complete specialty certifications:
  • ACLS: ED, ICU, CVICU, Cardiac Cath Lab, Cardiopulmonary Rehab, Bronch Suite, Interventional Radiology, Radiology Safety Nurses, Step-down Units (3A, 3B, 4B), 6A, 6B, 7A, Labor and Delivery, Hemodialysis, Respiratory Therapy, Float Pool, GI Unit, and PACU
  • PALS: PACU, Pediatric Nurses, ED
  • NRP: NICU, Mother Baby, Labor and Delivery
  • De-escalation training: BHU, ED
• New Graduate with under one year of Nursing/Patient Care experience in an acute care setting

The compensation for this position—whether annual salary or hourly rate—is determined based on qualifications, relevant training and experience, skill level, shift differentials (where applicable), internal equity, and current market conditions.
