Fall 2026 New Graduate Nurse Residency, 7B/Medical Renal
About the Role
The registered professional nurse (RN) is responsible for the direct and indirect total nursing care of assigned patients and the supervision of assigned personnel. This position requires knowledge of department and hospital policies and procedures relevant to the delivery of nursing care. The role involves interpretive skills, frequent interactive and consultative associations, and management and supervisory skills. The ability to retrieve, communicate, or present information in written, auditory, or visual formats is essential, along with spoken, written, telephone, and manual dexterity skills.
Requirements
- Associate's in Nursing or Bachelor's in Nursing
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Virginia Department of Health Professions or Compact State Licensure in Nursing
- BLS certification required (ACLS or PALS certification may substitute for BLS per American Heart Association Guidelines)
- New graduates or nurses new to a practice area have 1 year to complete specialty certifications:
- ACLS: ED, ICU, CVICU, Cardiac Cath Lab, Cardiopulmonary Rehab, Bronch Suite, Interventional Radiology, Radiology Safety Nurses, Step Down Units (3A, 3B, 4B), 6A, 6B, 7A, Labor and Delivery, Hemodialysis, Respiratory Therapy, Float Pool, GI Unit, and PACU
- PALS: PACU Pediatric Nurses, ED
- NRP: NICU, Mother Baby, Labor and Delivery
- De-escalation training: BHU, ED
Experience
New graduates with under one year of nursing/patient care experience in an acute care setting are eligible.

The compensation for this position is determined based on qualifications, relevant training and experience, skill level, shift differentials (where applicable), internal equity, and current market conditions.
