About the role

NHTI is seeking a qualified adjunct faculty member to teach CHEM 103C, CHEM 104C, and/or CHEM 125C. These courses provide students with essential knowledge in the fundamentals of inorganic, organic, and biochemistry, focusing on practical applications and real-world relevance.

    Course Descriptions:

    • CHEM 103C: Fundamental laws and concepts of chemistry, including elements, atomic structure, the periodic table, chemical bonding, compounds, chemical equations, and stoichiometry. Laboratories reinforce concepts presented in lectures and develop skills in scientific thought and common procedures used in chemical experimentation. With CHEM 104C, intended to provide a foundation for further study in life sciences and physical sciences. Prerequisite: High school chemistry with lab with a grade of C or higher; Pre/corequisite: MATH 124C or higher level CHEM 104C: Fundamental laws and concepts of chemistry, including elements, atomic structure, the periodic table, chemical bonding, compounds, chemical equations, and stoichiometry. Laboratories reinforce concepts presented in lectures and develop skills in scientific thought and common procedures used in chemical experimentation. With CHEM 103C, intended to provide a foundation for further study in life sciences and physical sciences. Prerequisite: CHEM 103C with a grade of C or higher
    • CHEM 125C: Designed for students who need an introductory chemistry course that covers the fundamentals across inorganic, organic, and biological chemistry. This course focuses on the chemistry and chemical processes that operate in living systems. Topics will include physical and chemical properties of matter, chemical bonding, solutions, acids and bases, the properties and naming of organic compounds, metabolic pathways, and energy production. Appropriate lab experiments will complement the lectures. Prerequisite: High school chemistry with lab with a grade of C or higher

    Key Responsibilities

    • Teach the assigned course using provided curriculum and instructional materials aligned with program standards.
    • Facilitate class discussions, assignments, and assessments to foster student engagement and learning.
    • Provide regular feedback and maintain accurate records of student progress.
    • Maintain professional currency in the field and comply with college policies and standards.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Education: Master’s degree in science (or a minimum of 12 graduate-level credits) required.
    • Experience: Prior teaching experience and familiarity with Canvas (or similar LMS) preferred.
    • Residency: Must reside in NH, VT, ME, MA, RI, or CT.
