About the Role

Join the Software and Systems Laboratory led by George K. Thiruvathukal at Loyola University Chicago, in collaboration with Argonne National Laboratory (ALCF). This summer project focuses on large-scale repository mining to assess the trustworthiness of machine learning supply chains for pre-trained models. Additionally, we are advancing research on energy-efficient visual transformer architectures for computer vision. ALCF provides an ideal environment with AI testbeds, emerging architectures, and extensive computational and storage resources, making it well-suited for these research efforts.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to large-scale repository mining to evaluate the trustworthiness of machine learning supply chains for pre-trained models.
• Advance research on energy-efficient visual transformer architectures for computer vision applications.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team at ALCF to leverage AI testbeds and emerging architectures.

Requirements

• Visiting Faculty appointment.
• Part-time position.
• Ability to work with large computational and storage resources.
• Disclosure of participation in Foreign Government Sponsored or Affiliated Activities, as defined by U.S. Department of Energy Order 486.1A.
• Successful completion of a background check, including an assessment of criminal conviction history.
• Potential requirement to obtain and maintain government access authorization.

Qualifications

Candidates should have expertise in computer science, data science, software engineering, or related fields, with a focus on machine learning, computer vision, or energy-efficient architectures. Experience with large-scale data analysis and familiarity with AI testbeds and emerging architectures is preferred.
