About the role

The Faculty of St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary invites applications for a full-time, residential position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Church History / Historical Theology within the Seminary’s Master of Divinity (M.Div.) program, with a starting date of July 1, 2026, and teaching responsibilities to commence in fall 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Offer graduate-level courses in areas of Church History and/or Historical Theology (Patristics)
  • Engage in active scholarly publication
  • Help students in undertaking guided research
  • Be involved in institutional service through participation in standing faculty committees and working groups of the Seminary

Requirements

  • Broad knowledge of Church History and/or Historical Theology
  • Solid demonstration of the conduct of academic research within their discipline
  • Be a faithful member and participant in the sacramental life of the Eastern Orthodox Church
  • Agree to support and advance the established mission and purpose of the Seminary

Qualifications

  • Terminal research doctorate (Ph.D., Th.D., D.Phil.) in either Church (Ecclesiastical) History with a concentration in Patristics or in Patristics proper, which has been or will be awarded before the date of hire.
