About the role
The Department of Computational Biology at St. Jude seeks applications for Assistant/Associate/Full Member positions in areas such as Omics Technologies and AI in Biomedicine. The department focuses on developing innovative technologies and computational tools that can directly impact patient care.
Responsibilities
- Pioneer assay–algorithm co-design in Omics Technologies, focusing on RNA biology, CRISPR functional genomics, single cell and spatial omics, metabolomics, and immunopeptidomics.
- Build foundation models and agentic AI tools in AI in Biomedicine, covering DNA/RNA/protein/imaging/spatial/EHR data for pediatric precision medicine.
- Collaborate with researchers across basic and clinical departments and utilize institution-wide core facilities.
- Participate in multiple completed and ongoing institutional projects, including the Pediatric Cancer Genome Project, St. Jude Cloud, PedDep Accelerator, Real Time Clinical Genomics, iTARGETS, and COMET.
Requirements
- PhD (or equivalent) with at least three years of relevant postgraduate experience, or a demonstrated track record of developing novel, high impact computational methods.
- For Area A: Evidence of assay–algorithm co-design in RNA/CRISPR/single cell/spatial/metabolomics.
- For Area B: Experience with foundation models, multimodal learning, clinical NLP, and trustworthy AI; familiarity with clinical informatics.
