Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide services as an Optometrist, comprising of comprehensive clinics for all ages.
- Participate in the didactic teaching program including supervising medical students and residents.
- Participate in JayDoc clinics.
- Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with patients as monitored by the hospital's patient experience survey.
- Serve on departmental committees and provide other service to the School of Medicine and the University as needed.
- Participate in clinical research and scientific presentations at national/regional meetings as appropriate with academic track.
- Provide clinical and surgical services to the VA and/or other sites under Professional Services Agreement with The University of Kansas Health System.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Optometry Degree (OD) from an Accredited School of Optometry.
- Licensed in the State of Kansas of eligible for licensure in Kansas.
- Board eligible or board certified in Optometry.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with fitting and care coordination of medically necessary contact lenses.
- Managing post-operative care for specialty surgeons.
- Experience with academic background involving teaching with interest in clinical or basic research.
- Experience in growing own research programs with the ability to obtain funding from public and private sources.
