Faculty Associate School Guidance Counselor (AP27-010)

About the role

The School Guidance Counselor at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is responsible for establishing and maintaining the school's counseling and scheduling needs. They will assist with the creation of the master schedule, scheduling students for the regular school year, credit recovery and summer school based on transcript evaluations. The School Guidance Counselor will also assist with student transfers, review transcripts, and assist students with personal/social/academic development.

Responsibilities

• Create and distribute schedules to students and families for courses for the school year and summer sessions.
• Maintain and enter data into the student data management system.
• Aid in student transfers in and/or out of the school.
• Review transcripts and ensure students are scheduled in the correct classes.
• Assist students with setting realistic short/long-term goals.
• Conduct transcript reviews and credit checks for graduation requirements with students.
• Assist students in grades 9 - 12, assist with SEL needs, advise them academically, and create lesson plans for and conduct individual, group, and classroom sessions with students.
• Establish and expedite programs and activities to assist students with being college and/or career ready upon graduation.
• Provide guidance, resources, and assistance to Charter High School students and/or legal guardians in preparation for college/career placement.
• Be a key member of the MTSS team, 504 team, etc.

Requirements

• Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Counselor Endorsement.
• Bachelor’s degree in School Counseling, Guidance Counseling or related field.
• Master's degree in School Counseling, Guidance Counseling or related field (preferred).
• 2+ years of high school counseling experience.
• Experience with Master Scheduling and working with electronic student data bases.
• Successful experience working with College and Career placement (preferred).
• Excellent Written, Verbal, Organizational And Interpersonal Skills.
• Knowledge of PACE framework (preferred).

Pay

The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $55,000 annually.

Schedule

The faculty associate/counselor is expected to report to work by 7:30 am and remain until 3:30 pm. They are expected to be punctual for all required meetings, classes, and duty assignments and remain at assignment for an appropriate length of time (as determined by the Principal/Director).
