Essential Functions of the Position

• Teach upper and/or lower-division courses to undergraduate students, in a face-to-face format.
• Courses are in Biology or Chemistry areas.
• Prepare syllabus, lectures and class materials, exams, and grade assignments and exams.
• Maintain regular availability to students, including office hours as appropriate to course modality.
• Monitor student success and regularly respond to student academic issues.
• Attend group meetings with the subject coordinator.

Qualifications

• Required: Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area: biology, chemistry, or related field at the time of hire.
• Desired: Availability to teach in-person at the ASU California Center in Los Angeles, California.
• Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with students from a wide variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including first-generation college students.
• Evidence of teaching excellence e.g., student evaluations, syllabi, peer observation, annual evaluations, teaching philosophy, etc.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
