Job Summary

The University of Maryland Faculty Practice is seeking a full-time faculty member with specialty training in Headache and facial pain syndromes to join the Department of Neurology.

About the Role

The Department of Neurology provides comprehensive care for patients with various neurological disorders, including stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, ALS, and migraine. Services include inpatient and consultative services, a Comprehensive Stroke Center, a Level 4 Epilepsy Center, a Neuro-Critical Care Unit, and an outpatient practice. The department conducts research funded by the NIH and VA, focusing on genetics, imaging, biomarkers, and neurodevelopmental disorders. Faculty members are involved in clinical trials and teaching medical students and residents.

Responsibilities

  • Expand a multi-disciplinary outpatient practice focused on headache, migraine, and facial pain syndromes
  • Provide inpatient consultation and perform procedures such as chemo denervation, nerve blocks, trigger point injections, infusion protocols, and alternative approaches
  • Coordinate clinical trials related to headache
  • Collaborate with behavioral health and integrative plan services
  • Teach medical students and residents and assist with the launch of a headache fellowship

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Medicine in area of specialty
  • 3-5 years of clinical experience
  • CPR and BLS certifications
  • Board certification/eligibility in area of specialty
  • Demonstrated involvement in professional organizations, teaching, research, and/or publishing
  • Knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Qualifications
