About the role
Hitachi Energy is seeking a Factory Director Senior Leader to manage all aspects of operations at the Distribution Transformer manufacturing plant in South Boston, VA. This includes production, quality, operational excellence, and logistics.
Responsibilities
- Manage overall manufacturing operations, including staff and the SIOP (Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning) process.
- Implement continuous improvement methodologies and lean principles to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
- Develop programs and metrics to optimize operational performance and working capital.
- Recruit, retain, and develop high-performing teams while establishing a talent pipeline for future leaders.
- Ensure a strong customer focus and uphold high ethical standards in all operations.
- Provide a safe and healthy work environment, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Collaborate with the ITM (Integrated Transformer Management System) team to integrate lean manufacturing principles into production processes.
- Address challenges such as backfilling key positions and providing training and mentoring to leaders.
- Tackle production hurdles due to machine issues, part shortages, or personnel shortages.
- Promote and embody Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity.
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing management.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control, and safety standards.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire teams, drive engagement, and achieve high performance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex situations and resolve issues.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop team members, implementing training and development programs that enhance skills and promote career growth.
