Facility Systems Tech II-Full Time Days

About the role

This is an entry-level position requiring basic knowledge of boiler, HVAC, refrigeration, control system maintenance and operation, plumbing, electricity, carpentry, and painting. The Facility Systems Technician I position allows the incumbent to learn operations for HVAC, refrigeration systems, plumbing, electricity, work practices, safety procedures, and become familiar with respective equipment regulatory requirements. This position provides an opportunity to learn proper use of basic tools and equipment necessary to maintain and troubleshoot HVAC and refrigeration systems.

The Facility Systems Technician supports small and mid-size hospitals, critical access hospitals, small inpatient/outpatient facilities, and clinics by operating, maintaining, and repairing various electrical/plumbing systems, movable equipment, physical plant equipment, furniture, walls, ceilings, and floors. The role ensures a safe working environment and supports an exceptional Environment of Care for Mercy.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and electrical systems
• Operate and troubleshoot physical plant equipment
• Perform carpentry, painting, and general facility maintenance
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for equipment and systems
• Utilize customer service and communication skills to support facility operations
• Prioritize work assignments and manage time and materials efficiently
• Complete work assignments with high quality and cost-effectiveness
• Achieve certification in required training programs (e.g., Class C Tank Operator, fire door maintenance, UL fire stop training)

Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License for all Mercy locations
• High Pressure Boiler Operators License (Arkansas Dept. of Labor and Licensing) for Mercy Arkansas Hospitals where boilers are installed
• Class II Boiler Operator’s License (Oklahoma City or Oklahoma Dept. of Labor) for Mercy OKC Hospital where boilers are installed
• Class C Tank Operator Training and Certification (must achieve within 90 days of employment)
• Fire door maintenance training program with certificate of completion (required prior to advancing to Facility Systems Technician II)
• UL fire stop training with certificate of completion (required prior to advancing to Facility Systems Technician II)
• Oral and written communication skills to follow instructions and interact with customers
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals
• Basic math knowledge for calculations related to testing, installation, measurement, estimation, and repair
• Ability to prioritize work, conceptualize finished products, and understand blueprints/specifications
• Proficiency in computer software such as Outlook, TMS, and/or Nuvolo
• General manual dexterity, mechanical aptitude, and ability to work in extreme temperatures, loud noise, or around electric shock hazards
• Favorable results on both oral and written competency exam (required prior to advancing to Facility Systems Technician II)

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2 or more years of training in a Technical or Vocational School
• 1 or more years of commercial experience with HVAC, boilers, or refrigeration equipment
• 1 or more years as a maintenance technician in a healthcare, educational, or industrial setting
• Boiler, HVAC, Refrigeration, Electrical, and/or Plumbing licensure
• EPA-approved Universal Certification for handling refrigerants
• Training in NFPA 80 regulations for fire door inspection and maintenance
• ASSE 6040 training for medical gas maintenance

Schedule

Full-time position with hours from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
