About the role
The Facility Services Attendant supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, welcoming, and well-maintained YMCA environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, safe, and welcoming YMCA facility.
- Clean and disinfect all wellness areas, locker rooms, restrooms, studios, and common areas.
- Complete daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal cleaning assignments.
- Vacuum, sweep, mop, scrub, dust, sanitize, and polish assigned areas.
- Empty trash and recycling receptacles.
- Restock restrooms and cleaning supplies.
- Maintain custodial closets and storage areas.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance throughout the facility.
- Replace light bulbs, batteries, ceiling tiles, and air filters.
- Conduct routine facility checks and report maintenance concerns.
- Aid in seasonal maintenance and exterior appearance.
- Help maintain equipment and facility spaces in safe operating condition.
- Prepare rooms and activity spaces for YMCA programs, meetings, rentals, and special events.
- Set up and break down tables, chairs, equipment, and room layouts.
- Ensure rental spaces are clean and ready before events.
- Support branch-wide events and fundraising activities.
- Greet members and guests professionally.
- Respond promptly to member questions and concerns.
- Build positive relationships with members, participants, volunteers, and staff.
- Model YMCA Core Values in every interaction.
- Maintain compliance with YMCA policies and risk management standards.
- Identify and report safety hazards.
- Complete required safety trainings and incident reports in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with staff across departments to support daily branch readiness.
- Identify opportunities to improve facility appearance and efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous custodial, housekeeping, hospitality, facilities, or maintenance experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of facility maintenance and custodial equipment is preferred.
- Strong organizational, attention to detail, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
Qualifications
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Safely operate custodial equipment and cleaning products.
Skills
- Strong organizational and attention to detail skills.

Pay
$16.00 - $19.00 per hour.
Schedule
Work throughout the YMCA including but not limited to wellness areas, locker rooms, gymnasium, studios, pool area, and outdoor areas. Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing stairs. Work varies from evenings and weekends.
