Facility Plumber
About the role
Amentum is seeking a Facility Maintenance/Plumbing systems technician for our client site in Groton, CT. The hourly range is $38-43 (hourly/salary rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data).
Responsibilities
- Providing advanced level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventative and predictive maintenance to general facilities systems equipment to include but not limited to plumbing, mechanical equipment, pumps, piping, backflows, drains, and other equipment as directed.
- Repairing maintenance and mechanical building systems including but not limited to Chilled water, Reheat, Potable and Non-potable, Hot water distribution and specific components, Distilled water & reverse Osmosis systems, lab Gas systems, High & Low Vacuum systems, Instrument air Compressors and dryers, waste discharge systems consisting of effluent, Lab Waste, storm and sewage.
- Complying with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Performing periodic maintenance on backflow preventers, eyewash/safety showers, and water filtration systems.
- Performing preventive and predictive maintenance inspections and actions such as water filtration systems.
- Assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.
- Installing and repairing bathroom plumbing fixtures.
- Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial facility mechanical systems, facility equipment and systems.
- Works within the context of a team and at times with minimal supervision.
- Ensures excellent customer service and safe work environment.
- Complies with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
Requirements
- 3 years’ experience in the field of mechanical maintenance and plumbing.
- Must have hands-on experience in the maintenance, repair, and operation of mechanical building systems.
- Ability to pass a medical evaluation for respirator use and be able to successfully complete a fit test for several types of respirators.
- Ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.
- Demonstrated fluency in computer use including the full Microsoft product line.
- Ability to obtain an appropriate driver's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles, as requested.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
Qualifications
- Technical degree preferred.
- Experience working in a GMP or similar regulated environment such as hospitals or pharmaceutical campuses.
- Ability to read and understand repair manuals, specifications, drawings, and schematic diagrams.
- Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); EAMS experience is a plus.
- Experience interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Backflow preventer testing certified
- P-1 or P-2 license
Skills
- Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint.
- Clear communication via phone.
- Close communication with customers during site emergencies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, i.e., listening to customer needs, articulating path forward and giving solutions that provide value to the customer, etc.
- Accurately document electronic and paper cataloging system to provide information to customer or regulatory personnel.
- Strive for quick complaint resolution; to resolve problems on the first call and avoid escalation of issues through operational knowledge.

Pay
The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good-faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
Schedule
Monday - Friday; 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, however, various hours may be required based on business demand.
