Facility Operator
Facility Management Corporation, known as “FMC Ice Sports,” was formed in 1992 to deliver high-quality ice sport facility management and operations, as well as ice-based programs that benefit our communities and promote interest in both hockey and skating. We are the largest operator of public arenas in the United States, managing 25 public ice skating arenas across Massachusetts through long-term partnerships with the Commonwealth, municipalities, and educational institutions.
About the role
The Facility Operator is responsible for maintaining FMC facilities to ensure clean, safe, and healthy environments for the public. This includes routine maintenance, janitorial duties, and operating the ice resurfacer. The role reports directly to the Arena Manager and/or Facility Supervisor and may require working alone or with others based on the facility’s activity schedule. The work schedule includes nights, weekends, and some holidays to meet patron needs. No prior ice rink or ice sports experience is required—training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and secure the facility.
- Make and maintain the ice surface and arena facilities.
- Ensure facilities are cleaned on a regular basis.
- Demonstrate a total commitment to outstanding customer service for both internal and external customers.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be at least 21 years of age with a valid Driver’s License.
- Self-starter with the ability to analyze situations and develop solutions with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with diverse groups.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively.
- Flexibility to work varying hours, especially as seasons and service needs change.
Pay
Starting training rate: $18 per hour. Rate increases to $20 per hour upon completion of training. Compensation includes discretionary bonuses and annual reviews. All offers are contingent upon passing a thorough background check, including CORI, SORI, and National Criminal History.
