About the role
We are seeking a Facility Operator for the Wimberley area (Kyle, Maxwell, San Marcos). This role supports the operation of water production facilities, wastewater treatment facilities, lift stations, booster stations, distribution systems, and wastewater collection systems under the direction of the Field Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Maintains equipment at assigned water production facilities and booster stations.
- Operates and maintains distribution systems, including mains, valves, hydrants, and service lines.
- Maintains equipment at wastewater treatment facilities and lift stations.
- Operates and maintains sewer collection systems, including collection mains and pump stations.
- Troubleshoots and repairs service piping and related equipment.
- Performs routine water quality analysis and makes operational adjustments to comply with state and federal standards.
- Adjusts chemical treatment to ensure water quality meets standards and calculates ratios and dosages.
- Completes customer service work orders, updates system documentation, and closes work orders per department policies.
- Performs all tasks safely, professionally, and in accordance with company policies and regulations.
- Assists with other tasks or projects as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
- Minimum license requirement of C Water or C Wastewater for FO I.
- For FO II, must meet dual licensing requirements and hold C Water and C Wastewater.
- For FO III, must meet dual licensing requirements of at least a B or above in Water and Wastewater.
Skills
- Familiarity with computers/tablets and basic database, spreadsheet, and word processing programs.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal operating instructions.
- Mathematical ability to perform calculations for ratios, dosages, and volumetric measurements.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of wastewater pollution prevention and plan processes through computer-controlled equipment.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, multi-tasking environment.
Working Conditions
- May be subject to extreme temperatures, noise, wet/humid conditions, mechanical/electrical/gas exposure hazards, fumes, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Travel to work sites within Essential Utilities and other locations.
- Must be available for on-call nights and weekends to support 24/7 operations.
