Facility Mechanic

About the role

Under the direction of supervision, performs a variety of maintenance repairs and installation/replacement tasks including machinery, mechanical equipment, carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC/R, and related work. Responds to and takes action on all skilled trade calls.

Responsibilities

• Operates, maintains, repairs, and installs machinery, plumbing fixtures, simple HVAC/R controls, as well as varied tasks including painting, carpentry, and electrical work.
• Responds to trouble calls and requests within the facilities, using hand tools, power tools, analyzing equipment, and testing requirements.
• Performs routine building maintenance and inspections on mechanical equipment and related facility systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC/R, carpentry, painting, and general repair.
• Prepares, maintains, and submits requisitions for materials, work orders, required records, and reports pertaining to facility equipment/systems to the Supervisor, Maintenance, and Construction.

Requirements

• Technical school diploma or an equivalent level of knowledge plus two (2) years of experience in electrical, plumbing, HVAC/R, carpentry, painting, and/or general maintenance in an industrial, education, and/or healthcare setting.
• Ability to perform minor repairs across all skilled trades, including mechanical equipment/systems, HVAC/R, electrical, plumbing, and fire alarm systems.
• Valid New Jersey Driver’s License.
• New Jersey Black Seal Engineer’s License is preferred.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $25.90 – $27.19 per hour. University Hospital considers multiple factors when determining compensation, including the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s relevant work experience, education and training, key skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational needs.
