About the role

Hologic, in Newark DE, is seeking a hands-on, customer-focused Facility Mechanic to support their Newark, Delaware site.

Responsibilities

  • Support facility operations for a large manufacturing and office environment, including clean room manufacturing areas and critical infrastructure serving production lines.
  • Perform general facility repairs and maintenance, including light HVAC troubleshooting, light electrical troubleshooting, plumbing support, drywall repair, painting, furniture adjustments, and workstation moves.
  • Bring a practical trade mindset to daily work, with a preference for candidates who have strong electrical/mechanical aptitude.
  • Respond to urgent facility needs with a strong sense of ownership, especially where downtime, power loss, production disruption, or employee impact may be a concern.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and work order activities, documenting completed tasks accurately in maintenance management systems.
  • Support internal and external moves, relocations, workstation cleanouts, and furniture reconfigurations as business needs change.
  • Partner with contracted service providers, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, housekeeping, cafeteria, pest control, sprinkler, life safety, and other facilities-related vendors.
  • Facilitate building access and support maintenance work performed by landlords, contractors, or Hologic-affiliated service providers.
  • Provide maintenance support across multiple facilities as needed.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and provide occasional weekend or off-hours support based on business needs.
  • Support employee-facing services and workplace experience, including company functions, cafeteria experience, and general office support needs.
  • Communicate clearly with employees, leaders, vendors, and team members about work being performed, timelines, and impacts.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and safety requirements, including PPE, SOPs, QSRs, and GMPs.
  • Support sustainability efforts and initiatives that help reduce the site’s environmental impact.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a maintenance, facilities, trades, or related role.
  • Electrical experience, electrician background, or strong electrical troubleshooting skills preferred.
  • Experience in an FDA-regulated, GMP, clean room, manufacturing, or other highly regulated environment preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience using preventive maintenance, work order, or computerized maintenance management systems preferred.
  • Strong communication, customer service, organizational, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond appropriately to changing business needs.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
