Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, credentials, employment status, and work schedule: RN range $99,840–$108,160, LPN range $93,600–$99,840.
About the role
The Facility Educator will develop and deliver in-service education programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, OSHA, JCAHO, and corporate regulations in a long-term-care, sub-acute, and short-term-rehab setting.
Responsibilities
- Apply OBRA regulations and adult-learning principles.
- Collaborate with all facility department directors to orient and educate staff, meeting mandatory and regulatory education requirements.
- Conduct clinical competencies focused on medically complex patients (e.g., cardiac, heart failure, stroke, respiratory care including trach and vent).
- Perform regular education-needs assessments to identify areas for improvement.
- Direct in-service programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, OSHA, JCAHO, and corporate policies.
- Prepare, schedule, and select instructional materials, equipment, and training aids for meaningful in-service programs using approved corporate forms.
- Schedule and communicate training programs according to facility needs.
- Ensure required equipment and knowledgeable operators are available for special in-service sessions.
- Conduct regularly scheduled education meetings for all staff.
- Prepare in-service training classrooms or areas before classes begin.
- Recommend equipment and supply needs to the administrator.
- Assess staff learning needs through direct observation, formal assessments, and review of quality-improvement data.
- Work with the Corporate Education & Development department and implement recommended changes.
- Facilitate training on electronic software, IV certification, and CPR.
- Maintain attendance and documentation of in-services per regulatory guidelines and corporate policies.
- Assist licensed/certified nursing personnel (RNs, LPNs, C.N.A.s, CMAs) in obtaining required in-service training to keep licenses current.
- Obtain and maintain American Heart Association CPR Instructor certification and provide CPR certification for designated employees.
- Coordinate the Employee Health Program and maintain employee records in accordance with regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
- 1+ years of nursing supervision in a long-term-care setting.
- Active licensed Registered Nurse in the assigned state(s).
- Certified Instructor for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
- Certification in Gerontology or Education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (desirable).
- Membership in professional education and nursing associations (desirable).
