Facilities Worker- Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services Residential Campus- Full Time- Days

About the role

This position performs various tasks independently or in coordination with a tradesman. Key responsibilities include semi-skilled mechanical, electrical, plumbing and construction functions, as well as maintenance and preventive maintenance functions. Tasks may be assigned depending on the worker's training and skill capabilities. Independent judgment is required for handling details of each job.

Responsibilities

• Safety
  • Demonstrates an understanding of emergency procedures, fire drills, evacuation procedures, and internal/external disaster procedures, as outlined in the fire safety policy; knows personal role in the event of a fire while on duty
  • Provides a safe environment; demonstrates alertness to areas needing attention in avoiding unsafe conditions such as wet flooring, blocked egress areas, etc.
  • Maintains work area in a clean and safe manner on a daily basis
  • Always wears all personal protective equipment when required
  • Carries out duties in a safe professional manner, with focus on customer service as a high priority
  • Ability to use the Life Safety Drawings to identify smoke and fire barrier construction throughout the facility
  • Anticipates potential environmental safety hazards and takes appropriate actions
  • Uses proper lifting techniques when appropriate
  • Assures proper machine guards are in place
  • Understands and able to use the department's lock out tag out system for equipment under repair
• Emergency Response
  • Availability for on call duty when required
  • Works additional hours if required, including occasional shift changes due to work assignments
  • Participates in availability for unscheduled Emergencies when they occur
  • Participates in Facilities On-Call Weekly Program (candidates hired after 2020)
• Systems & Equipment Maintenance
  • Performs preventive maintenance on designated hospital equipment
  • Changes medical compressed gas cylinders when needed
  • Performs basic plumbing tasks; performs more complex tasks under the direction of the plumber
  • Performs basic electrical tasks; performs more complex tasks under the direction of the electrician
  • Performs basic carpentry tasks; performs more complex tasks under the direction of the Carpenter
  • Performs basic HVAC tasks; performs more complex tasks under the direction of the HVAC technician
  • Installs new equipment in accordance with manufacturer and CMC system standards
  • Assembles fixtures and furniture
  • Performs PM Inspections as directed by the Facility Manager; ensures all TJC scheduled inspections as assigned are completed on time
  • Installs filters in all types of HVAC equipment; keeps track of inventory and maintains compliance
• Facilities Support
  • Maintains tools, inventory, and equipment
  • Assists other members of department with performing required duties
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Helps to move furniture and other designated pieces of equipment
• Information Management
  • Accurately uses the hospital information system to enter and retrieve maintenance related data
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the work order system

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent experience
• Minimum of one year experience as a handyman helper or laborer in mechanical or construction trades
• Ability to perform all types of maintenance and minor construction functions
• Should understand the terminology

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds
• Climbing, bending, and the ability to get into tight spaces while working off a ladder

Location & Schedule

• Location: Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services Residential Campus - 6621 NYS Route 227, Trumansburg, NY 14886
• Shift: 8am - 4pm, rotating weekends and holidays
• Travel: 25% travel may be expected if requested to assist at other locations

Pay

$20.00 - $26.00 per hour
