Facilities Specialist
About the role

The Facilities Specialist plays a key role in general maintenance support, coordinating building operations, and overseeing inventory and supplies. Occasional site travel within the region is required.
Responsibilities
- Daily building inspections
- Event support, including coordination, setup, and occasional after-hours or weekend events
- Escorting building maintenance contractors as assigned
- Maintaining copier paper and toner supplies, and ordering supplies when required
- Creating access badges as requested
- Completing facility maintenance work orders
- Overseeing Lighting/Ballast/Battery and Hazardous waste recycling program
- Maintaining inventory of supplies (paint, patch, tools, light bulbs)
- Traveling locally between sites to assist with facilities projects
- Executing internal moves and associated furniture set-up
- Supporting mailroom operations as needed
- Inspecting and replacing lights as needed
- Supporting snow removal as needed
- Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required
- Technical school apprenticeship, trade school graduate, or equivalent preferred
- 1-2 years of experience in general building maintenance preferred
- Valid driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportation to perform work-related travel required; eligible drivers must have a good motor vehicle record (MVR)
Skills
- Excellent verbal, written, multi-tasking, and presentation skills
- Ability to utilize standard office equipment, including copiers and fax machines
- Strong problem-solving skills: ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and act accordingly
- Well-organized, self-directed, and articulate team player able to relate to customers and employees at all levels
- Ability to solve logistical and customer service-related challenges in a timely manner
- Ability to work well under pressure and consistently meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Independent judgment and initiative expected
- Effective communication skills to convey information clearly
- Familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
