Facilities Specialist
Job Overview
The Facilities Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repair, and upkeep of facility equipment, buildings, and grounds. This role supports safe, efficient, and compliant facility operations by executing preventative and corrective maintenance activities under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Maintenance Execution
- Perform preventative maintenance (PM) on building systems, equipment, and infrastructure
- Complete corrective maintenance and repairs in a timely manner
- Troubleshoot basic mechanical, electrical, and facility-related issues
- Assist with emergency repairs as needed
- Facilities Upkeep
- Maintain building systems and structural components including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
- Perform general facility upkeep including painting, minor carpentry, and grounds maintenance
- Monitor facility conditions and report issues or risks to the Facilities Supervisor
- Work Order & Documentation
- Accurately complete work orders, maintenance logs, and inspection records
- Track materials used and report inventory needs
- Follow established procedures for asset tracking and maintenance documentation
- Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards
- Use proper PPE and follow safe work practices at all times
- Participate in safety trainings, audits, and inspections
- Report hazards, near misses, and incidents promptly
- Support & Teamwork
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to support operational needs
- Aid contractors and vendors during on-site work
- Support facility projects, installations, and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications/Skills
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and building systems
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Problem-solving skills and willingness to learn
- Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Education, Experience & Licensing Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1-3 years of facilities, maintenance, or related experience preferred
- Technical training or certifications are a plus
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and use of tools/equipment
- Exposure to chemicals, moving parts, vibration, and noise
- May require occasional overtime, on-call support, or emergency response
