About the Role

This is the entry level into the facilities services series. Incumbents perform basic custodial, building or grounds maintenance, or general laborer work.

Responsibilities

  • Performs manual labor activities, including emptying trash cans, gathering materials and equipment, placing materials and/or equipment in proper locations, sweeping, setting up furniture and/or equipment, digging, cleaning, moving furnishings, painting, and other related tasks.
  • Assists and responds to internal customer requests for assistance, inquiries, or other related requests; responds to emergency situations to ensure the safety of students and staff.
  • Maintains facilities, vehicles, and/or equipment; troubleshoots, performs simple repairs, and conducts preventive maintenance; monitors inventory of supplies.
  • Notifies appropriate individuals of required facility and/or equipment repairs.
  • Performs routine, minor repairs under direction.
  • Assists in routine grounds maintenance activities, including picking up trash, sweeping walkways, and weeding planter areas.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License.

Physical Requirements

  • Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
  • Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • May be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, and intense noises.

Return To Work Retirees will have an hourly rate approximately 9% lower than listed below without falling below minimum wage.

Pay

Pay Grade: G (FLSA Status: Non-Exempt)
