About the role

The Facilities Security role is responsible for maintaining the security of people and property in assigned areas and overseeing facility security to protect all company assets. This position acts as the point of contact for any emergency building issues and serves as backup for the facility technician.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementing security and security protocols for all assigned facilities and information systems.
• Take proactive steps to provide a safe and secure working environment for staff and visitors.
• Protect property and staff by maintaining safe and secure surroundings.
• Provide specialized security for and monitor access to limited and restricted access areas such as inventory areas, network equipment areas, and employee files and confidential records.
• Conduct regular walk-throughs and security inspections for assigned facilities and surrounding properties.
• Complete daily work assignments and/or projects; record completion of tasks.
• Monitor and control access at building entrances and admit appropriate personnel and/or guests.
• With management oversight, conduct investigations and prepare accurate and complete written reports.
• Respond quickly and effectively to all emergency situations.
• Maintain confidentiality of security information and ensure security of company assets.
• Act as backup for maintenance and emergency response personnel.
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by manager.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of related security experience.
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
• Ability to traverse various areas of the facility to conduct inspections and plan security procedures.
• Extensive knowledge of security protocol and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to provide training on security policies and procedures.
• Ability to work with confidential and classified information.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
