About the Role
Under close supervision, performs day-to-day duties associated with the operation of a water distribution, water, or wastewater facility. Has limited working knowledge of required procedures, equipment, and operating standards and is able to resolve minor routine problems. Requires guidance on performing assigned tasks.
Responsibilities
- Perform dead-end and monthly scheduled routine flushing of the water distribution system.
- Assist operators at assigned water treatment facilities once minimum certification is achieved.
- Assist operators at assigned wastewater treatment facilities with routine cleaning and process control once proper certification is achieved.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED with 0 to 1 year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience in maintenance or construction.
- Electrical, plumbing, and/or HVAC training and/or experience (similar trades useful).
- General facility maintenance training.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Skills
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to communicate with supervisor and customers.
- Willingness to work all shifts including weekends, holidays, evenings, and 24-hour emergency on-call.
- Physical strength and agility sufficient to perform strenuous tasks under varying weather conditions.
Work Environment
- Tasks involve intermittent performance of physically demanding work, typically including reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- May involve lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds).
- Subject to exposure to dust, fumes, vibration, noise, and dirty working conditions.
