Facilities Operations Manager

IONNA · Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill Area · 3 wk ago
On-siteProject Management$95/hrFull-time

About the role

IONNA is building a national EV charging network from the ground up — fast. Our Facilities Operations Manager plays a mission-critical role in keeping our sites safe, reliable, and operational for drivers every single day.

This is a hands-on, field-driven role for someone who thrives in lean, entrepreneurial environments. You’ll manage construction close-outs, punch lists, utilities, vendors, and day-to-day facilities operations across a distributed network of EV charging locations.

If you’re used to large corporate real-estate teams, this is not that. Here, you own the work end-to-end.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all IONNA sites are safe, clean, and fully functional for drivers every day.
  • Own and resolve all break/fix issues within defined SLAs.
  • Manage and hold accountable a diverse set of vendors, contractors, and service partners.
  • Lead the close-out of construction projects, including punch lists, commissioning, and site readiness.
  • Oversee utility setup, management, and billing for new and existing properties.
  • Maintain compliance by managing business licenses, inspections, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and implement workflow improvements across facilities and field operations.
  • Partner closely with Deployment, Site Operations, Finance, and Legal to ensure smooth handoffs and operational continuity.
  • Track and drive KPIs including:
    • Mean Time to Resolve (MTTR)
    • Google Ratings
    • Opex vs. Budget
  • Support rapid growth by building scalable processes, documentation, and operational standards.
  • Be available for weekends or late hours when needed — because field operations don’t always follow a 9-5 schedule.

Qualifications

  • A hands-on operator with experience managing critical facilities (e.g., power systems, HVAC, life safety, electrical infrastructure).
  • Experienced in small companies, startups, or fast-paced field environments where you owned work end-to-end.
  • Comfortable managing construction and facilities projects across distributed field locations (EV charging, telecom, utilities, retail networks, etc.).
  • Able to operate without the extensive support layers found in large corporate real-estate organizations.
  • A strong communicator who can coordinate across engineering, deployment, operations, and external partners.
  • Obsessed with documentation, process creation, and operational clarity.
  • A leader with a “no excuses, extreme ownership” mindset.
  • Energized by ambiguity and motivated by building something new.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years managing mission-critical facilities or infrastructure operations.
  • 5+ years managing construction projects, preferably in distributed field environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Demonstrated success in startup-like or fast-paced operational environments.
  • Strong vendor management and accountability skills.
  • Ability to work nights/weekends as needed to support field operations.
  • Onsite presence required at our Durham HQ.

Pay

Target Base Salary: $95–115k + incentives

Schedule

Available for weekends or late hours when needed — because field operations don’t always follow a 9-5 schedule.
