Facilities Monitor - Part Time

About the role

Performs responsible protective service work maintaining security at the city recreational facilities; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.

Responsibilities

• Enforces established rules and regulations.
• Provides security for building, personnel and patrons which includes protecting materials and documents against illegal acts or damage.
• Monitors activities for improper conduct of users, disturbances and congregation of customers, destruction of property and improper use of materials and equipment.
• Monitors facilities for the safety of the City facilities.
• Patrols area on foot in order to detect unauthorized activities, inside the facilities, at meetings and other events.
• Confronts unauthorized and/or undesirable persons and follows procedure as required.
• Responds to complaints from customers and staff.
• Locks and unlocks doors as needed; ensures that lights are turned on and off and that doors and gates are open or locked as necessary.
• Performs related tasks as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of related experience required; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License required.

• Some knowledge of practices concerning the protection of buildings and grounds.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to recognize and identify activities or situations which have or may become a problem or emergency requiring immediate attention.
• Ability to think and act quickly, effectively, and responsibly under emergency situations.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
• Good listening skills.
• Communicates well with others.

Physical and Mental Demands

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Required to use written and oral communication skills.
• Read and interpret data, information, and documents.
• Work under deadlines with constant interruptions.

Work Environment

The work involves inside and outside work and is exposed to all weather conditions.
