About the role

The Department of Residence is hiring for a Facilities Mechanic III position to support the maintenance and operation of our residence halls. The Facilities Mechanic III will perform a wide variety of skilled maintenance and repair work to keep residence hall systems operating safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Repair appliances, perform preventive maintenance, complete daily work orders, respond to maintenance emergencies, and participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Use troubleshooting skills to identify problems, complete repairs, maintain accurate records, and help provide a safe, comfortable living environment for students.

Requirements

  • Must possess a basic knowledge of plumbing, electricity, maintenance of steam and mechanical equipment.
  • Must have four years of work experience in the listed crafts, including apprenticeship or technical training.
  • At least two years of that experience must be in the same craft.

Qualifications

  • Experience maintaining commercial or institutional building systems, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and mechanical equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting steam, hot water, chilled water, or hydronic systems.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance.
  • Using computerized work order systems, maintenance management systems, or Excel.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices, including OSHA standards and lockout/tagout procedures.

Commensurate with qualifications.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
