About the role
CABVI is seeking a Full-time Facilities Mechanic to coordinate and complete the maintenance and repairs of the CABVI buildings, grounds, machinery, and vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on mechanical systems and equipment, including machines and material handling equipment.
- Perform routine building maintenance and repair tasks, including carpentry, electrical, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and plumbing.
- Install and maintain production machines and plant facilities equipment.
- Adapt workstations to enable blind employees to perform jobs more effectively.
- Maintain work request log and complete work in a timely manner.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests as required.
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Perform general grounds maintenance as needed.
- Perform janitorial duties, including cleaning restrooms, offices, and production areas; strip, seal, and wax floors; and shampoo carpets as directed.
Skills
- Skillful in presenting information and responding to questions from vendors, customers, and Central Industry employees.
- Good listening skills and ability to effectively communicate during difficult situations.
- Ability to read and write in the English language.
- Knowledgeable regarding OSHA regulations.
- Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment.
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent education with 5 years of building and machine maintenance experience.
- A certification or license in a trade specialty area is preferred.
- Must maintain a valid NYS driver’s license.
- Forklift certification required.
Physical Demands
- Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and climb.
- Frequently required to speak and hear.
- Regularly must lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights up to 30 feet above the ground or floor.

Pay
$25.00/hr.
