Responsibilities
- Manage building repairs and grounds maintenance, including carpentry, cleaning, electrical, furniture/equipment assembly, landscaping, masonry, painting, plumbing, snow removal, supply and inventory control, and event preparation.
- Contract the maintenance and repair of all building systems, including scope development, competitive bidding, securing proper approvals, scheduling, implementation, qualifying and directing subsequent repairs and maintenance.
- Maintain all records and serve as the main point of contact for all related vendors.
- Schedule and coordinate with contractors for regular inspections and maintenance, such as fire sprinklers/alarm, burglar alarm, elevator, HVAC, pest control, trash & recycling, plumbing, roofing, sanitary disposal and cleaning.
- Control activities such as parking space allocation, waste disposal, and building security.
- Collaborate with the Director of Operations to develop and maintain an accurate budget for all building-related plans, implement emergency response protocols, and manage compliance, permitting, and certification requirements.
- Develop a pool of qualified and licensed contractors to support the operation and maintenance of the buildings.
- Lead the development of major facility and network development projects from start to finish.
- Ensure proper operation and documentation of all building systems, including fire alarm, fire sprinkler, security alarm, emergency lighting and signage, emergency egress, building access control, monitoring and recording, elevators, generators, communications, waste disposal, sanitary, plumbing, electric, heating, cooling, and ventilation.
- Record and keep accurate maintenance and inspection logs.
- Track and communicate project requests to requestors and other interested parties for timely feedback and accountability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in facility management, business information management, or engineering.
- 3-5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, including time in a K-12 setting.
- Well-versed in technical/engineering operations and facilities management best practices.
- Strong procurement and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of basic accounting and finance principles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Good analytical/critical thinking skills.
