- First Shift, Monday - Friday 5:30a - 2p
- On-call requirement
Responsibilities And Duties
- Aid in maintaining all equipment both inside and outside
- Routine painting inside and out
- Able to work with contractors
- Make necessary repairs in machinery and/or vehicles
- Make routine checks in heating and air conditioning equipment to ensure they are functioning properly
- Keep all areas clean and free of anything that would constitute a safety hazard or eyesore
- Operate all vehicles and machinery necessary for groundskeeping
- Perform general responsibilities common to the maintenance area as assigned by the Maintenance Manager
- Maintain confidential information
- Interact with the community and employees
- Support and participate in other company initiatives as directed by management
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education And Experience
- High school diploma
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in maintenance, construction, HVAC, and equipment repair
- Electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and equipment repair
Skills And Abilities
- Ability to recognize problems in assigned areas
- Able to work independently with little or no supervision
- Ability to read blueprints and other diagrams that relate to machinery, etc. used in maintenance areas
- Reading and writing skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Good Mechanical skills

General
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to read, write and understand oral and/or written instructions
Physical Activity
- Ability to lift caging, etc. up to 50 lbs. to a height of at least 5 feet
- Work in a standing position for long periods of time
- Ability to walk over rough terrain
- Able to operate all vehicles and grounds keeping equipment (tractors, mowers, string trimmers, etc.)
Working Conditions
- Frequent involvement with radiant/electrical energy, solvents, grease, oil, irritants, acids, bases, and other hazardous chemicals, electro-mechanical hazards, flammable materials, and biohazards
- Due to exposure to hazardous biological materials (which may include HIV positive specimens), immunization to diseases may be required
- Working outdoor in all seasons and weather conditions
- Working indoors
- Mantoux TB test with negative result is required
- Able to wear latex or nitrile gloves, dust mask and/or respirator, and safety glasses as required
- May be exposed to animal dander and/or material associated with animal husbandry
- The noise level is usually moderate to loud requiring ear protection
