About the role

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for daily site maintenance tasks and contractor safety oversight at our Charlotte, NC location. The successful candidate will demonstrate a proven track record of strong safety performance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily rounds, issue permits, troubleshoot equipment, prepare equipment for maintenance and subsequent operation, and conduct inspections
  • Use OSHA safety training/knowledge to ensure safe operations and functionality of site equipment
  • Apply BASF safety and security protocols for contractor orientations, writing and issuing safe work permits, reviewing scopes of work and job plans, performing lockout/tagout of equipment and utilities, and ensuring mechanical activities are completed safely
  • Maintain the Preventive Maintenance program for office and lab buildings, including completing work orders and coordinating with contractors for small equipment and minor building repairs
  • Troubleshoot and repair lab and building equipment
  • Coordinate external vendors for independent commercial work
  • Execute building maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, ceiling tiles, and door knobs; perform minor plumbing repairs, carpentry, and painting
  • Complete daily walkthroughs and inspections of buildings, infrastructure, and utilities using pre-established check sheets
  • Perform office moves, including moving furniture, disconnecting/reconnecting equipment, and installing wall furniture
  • Conduct setup and breakdown for site events, including rearranging conference rooms
  • Operate pallet jacks and hand-trucks
  • Handle incoming deliveries including samples, mail, equipment, and supplies
  • Pack and ship domestic samples and equipment

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2–5 years of operations experience in a maintenance environment
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., walk up and down stairs/ladders, and be on your feet for most of an 8-hour shift
  • Ability to communicate status updates verbally and in writing to internal customers, vendors, and contractors
  • Demonstrated safety performance behaviors
