Facilities Maintenance Technician I

The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician I to support Facilities Operations & Maintenance (O&M) for our government customer located in NORCO, California.

Responsibilities

  • Assists other trades inspecting and identifying facility-related equipment or machines in need of repair.
  • Assists in troubleshooting minor facility-related issues to determine necessary repairs.
  • Performs entry-level maintenance and repairs that do not require a specialized technician under direct supervision (e.g., repairing drywall, painting, repairing lighting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures).
  • Assists other trades in performing routine maintenance of building mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Assists in performing preventative maintenance on equipment and facilities systems, such as filter replacement, belt replacement, basic pump repairs, and inspections.
  • Assists in completion of facilities-related projects and equipment and system repairs as required.
  • Assists with finishing concrete masonry and grouting.
  • Assists with performing all grounds-keeping functions, including mowing and trimming grass, edging, pruning hedges and trees.
  • Operates equipment such as riding mowers, weed-eaters, pole trimmers, and chain saws.
  • Operates all types of power and hand woodworking tools, paint sprayers, concrete mixers, and forklifts.
  • Assists with maintaining equipment, tools, property, and materials, ensuring they are properly maintained and safeguarded.
  • Responds to emergency situations, including water, electrical, wind, and storm-related issues.
  • Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities and grounds.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • One (1) year of experience in facility maintenance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and safely with others on common projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Must be available and able to respond to emergency call-ins when required.
  • Must pass an annual “Fit for Duty” physical and meet all necessary medical requirements to wear respirators and perform the physical requirements of the job.
  • Must pass the required respirator fit test and maintain the requirement.
  • Must be physically able to climb all types of ladders (a-frame, vertical, extension, etc.).
  • Must be physically able to climb and maneuver on raised walkways and platforms with limited access.
  • Must be able to work in various types of confined spaces.
  • Must be physically able to move 55-gallon drums with the assistance of mechanical means.

Environmental Factors

Works in indoor and outdoor environments that may include excessive heat, cold, humidity, dampness, electrical energy, dust, fumes, solvents, grease, oils, moving machinery, moving objects or vehicles, and slippery or uneven surfaces.

Physical Effort

Works from ground level, ladders, and platforms on equipment and systems where parts are hard-to-reach. Frequently lifts parts and equipment weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally over fifty pounds. Standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and stretching for prolonged periods will be necessary.

Desired Qualifications

  • Two (2) years’ experience in maintenance of military facilities.

Citizenship and Clearance

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Pay

$28.00/hour. The compensation range or hourly rate provided is a good faith estimate at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, internal equity, market conditions, and applicable laws.
