Facilities Maintenance Specialist I

About the role

Performs a variety of working level skilled maintenance tasks requiring a wide range of skills including carpentry, plumbing, painting, boiler maintenance, and general grounds and custodial care. Works under the general supervision of the Facilities Superintendent. No supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of complex, skilled duties related to the construction, maintenance and repair of city buildings and facilities, including backup power systems and switching equipment; maintains and repairs light fixtures; monitors mechanical apparatus such as motors, belts, pulleys to assure proper operation.
• Monitors typical inventory requirements for ongoing projects and obtains tools from storage areas as needed.
• Performs preventive maintenance on facility systems and equipment, including boilers, domestic hot water systems, pumps, utility systems, and athletic facilities.
