Facilities Engineering Project Manager - Water System
About the role
The Facilities Engineering Project Manager - Water System plays a crucial role in overseeing the delivery of multi-year $3.9 billion Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects to enhance Chicago’s water infrastructure. This position involves managing and coordinating projects, including planning, design, and construction oversight, and representing the Chicago DWM.
Responsibilities
- Serve within a team as the Project Manager responsible for the development and delivery of the capital improvement plan for major water system facilities.
- Provide technical oversight for implementation of projects.
- Coordinate and participate in project presentations to DWM and other external groups.
- Lead conceptual project development and RFQ preparation, participate in design consultant selection, and negotiate final scope and fees.
- Manage project teams and monitor consultant compliance with contractual commitments.
- Monitor and manage project production for compliance with schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
- Supervise technical professionals and other project managers including workload and staffing management.
- Monitor and report financial and completion status of projects to client.
- Perform such other duties as the supervisor may deem necessary from time to time.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline and 6+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Professional Engineering license in Illinois or the ability to obtain one within the first 6 months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
- 10-15 + years of progressive experience in Water/Wastewater Facilities as an engineer and project manager.
- Experience working on municipal projects.

Pay
US Pay Range: $115,000 USD - $165,000 USD
Schedule
