About the Role
This position ensures the facility is maintained to pass audits required in pet food facilities and that EHS programs and practices comply with all applicable regulations and PetIQ requirements.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the company’s facilities, maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire systems, security, grounds, and forklifts to ensure a safe and functional workspace.
- Schedule work and set priorities according to company needs.
- Manage internal employees, contractors, and outside vendors.
- Contract out landscape maintenance.
- Oversee and supervise teams for facility maintenance and EHS.
- Maintain and repair buildings to meet internal, landlord, SQF, and other regulatory standards.
- Manage capital projects, including contractors working on the facility.
- Create and maintain budgeting for facility needs, including annual budget and monthly budget reviews (may include capital projects).
- Act as the primary lead for emergency planning, including weather and manmade emergencies.
- Ensure internal controls are adequately designed and operating effectively to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including retention of necessary documentation.
- Conduct facilities inspections and reports.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Develop, implement, and oversee policies and programs to maintain a safe and healthy workplace environment.
- Identify hazards, conduct safety audits, and recommend improvements.
- Educate employees on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and environmental practices.
- Prepare for and manage workplace emergencies (e.g., fires, hazardous material spills, medical incidents, severe weather, or equipment failures).
- Promote ongoing enhancements in safety practices.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant OSHA/UOSH standards by creating compliant procedures and policies.
- Review updates of OSHA/UOSH standards, new standards, and enforcement priorities.
- Act as the first-line representative during OSHA/UOSH inspections.
- Prepare training for OSHA/UOSH-compliant procedures and policies.
- Maintain OSHA/UOSH-required records.
- Lead the Safety Compliance Committee.
- Perform related duties as assigned by the General Manager.
Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems.
- Understanding of OSHA regulations and familiarity with local building codes.
- Demonstrated leadership and project management skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to maintain excellent communication and relationships with other departments to foster teamwork.
- Well-organized, able to work with deadlines under pressure, and maintain a positive attitude.
- Ability to work as part of a team and adhere to scheduled work hours.
- Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written directions in English.
- High School Graduate or GED equivalent (Associate degree preferred).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 55 pounds regularly.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
Schedule
The facility operates 24/7, and the Facilities/EHS Manager may be required to respond to workplace emergencies or training outside of regular hours.
