About the role
The Facilities and Equipment Maintenance Associate performs and oversees preventive and routine maintenance tasks throughout the distribution center facility, its grounds, and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform repair and general maintenance work on the facility, building, and grounds, both externally and internally.
- Assist with and perform installation, maintenance, repair, and construction in basic building maintenance trades (carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, locksmith, mechanics).
- Troubleshoot and provide minor maintenance or replacement for equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and other mechanical equipment.
- Troubleshoot minor maintenance problems involving electrical, structural, and plumbing systems.
- Conduct routine inventory and inspections, including fire extinguishers and first aid kits.
- Communicate with management regarding issues and follow up.
- Inventory and restock first aid kits.
- Build and dismantle warehouse racking.
- Remove snow/ice at all exterior entrances/exits throughout the facility.
- Interact with vendors, including plumbers, electricians, carpenters, builders, and technicians.
- Perform sanitation and food safety tasks, such as sweeping, dusting, trash collection, charging equipment, loading and sorting pallets, and baling cardboard.
- Maintain accurate records of preventive maintenance schedules and inspections.
- Order supplies and materials for receiving and completing projects.
- Maintain facilities, equipment, and grounds in good working order, cleanliness, and per sanitation guidelines for vendors and auditing companies.
- Support each department with necessary maintenance for facilities, equipment, and grounds.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of building maintenance experience, preferably in a warehouse distribution environment.
Skills
- Knowledge of trades related to building maintenance and repair, including various procedures and techniques.
- Knowledge of machinery, equipment, and tools necessary for warehouse distribution center maintenance and repair.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Skill in reading and following blueprints and assembly instructions.
- Skill in using hand and power tools, and ability to operate pallet jacks, forklifts, and other warehouse equipment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external personnel.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently, handling multiple tasks with varying degrees of skill.
Pay
Starting pay: $22 per hour. Guaranteed pay increases after 6 months and 1 year of employment, with additional increases based on length of service.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (with flexibility until work is complete). No scheduled weekends.
