About the role

Tacoma Public Library is seeking a Library Facilities and Capital Projects Manager to provide strategic oversight and management of the Library’s Facilities Department. This role ensures that facilities, grounds, assets, and vehicles are properly maintained, usable, clean, safe, and accessible for staff and the community. The position leads both daily operations and long-term capital planning, including construction, renovation, and infrastructure improvement projects, guiding capital investments and departmental direction.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the maintenance of Tacoma Public Library facilities, grounds, and vehicles
  • Manage the planning and execution of daily operations and major projects, including construction, renovations, and infrastructure improvements
  • Lead short- and long-term facilities planning, including budget development and management, project design, permitting, contractor coordination, and compliance with applicable codes and standards
  • Manage Facilities Department staff, including hiring, training, directing work, conducting performance evaluations, and recommending discipline
  • Provide complex construction project management, including coordination with internal stakeholders and external contractors
  • Ensure alignment of facilities operations and capital projects with organizational goals and community needs
