Description
PEACE Academy Charter promotes educational and cultural empowerment for its students, ensuring they master or exceed grade level content areas while fostering inclusivity through a strong focus on academics and cultural identity.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Co-teach lessons under the guidance of a Classroom Facilitator, leading small groups or individual instruction and discussions, and reviewing classwork.
- Implement a student-centered, problem-based curriculum to support students in mastering grade level content.
- Participate in lesson planning sessions and communicate with parents and school officials.
- Organize the classroom and teaching materials, monitor lessons, minimize distractions and disruptions, and supervise students in and out of the classroom.
- Help teachers and students with extracurricular activities and school functions.
- Perform clerical duties such as tracking student attendance, typing, filing, photocopying, and grading tests and homework.
- Ensure the upkeep of educational materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Track students' progress and prepare reports for parents.
- Conduct interventions with students who need additional support.
- Demonstrate a positive learning environment promoting positive student behavior using restorative practices.
- Build and maintain relationships with students.
- Engage in continuous professional development and shared learning with other professional staff.
- Collaborate with a diverse group of school colleagues, parents, community members, and others to support and implement the goals of the school.
- Attend faculty and school-related meetings.
- Supervise field experiences and other school programs.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree preferred, High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Passed the GACE in Paraprofessional (preferred).
- Experience working with elementary and/or middle school-aged students.
- Racial identity-based professional development or coursework.
- Experience with positive student behavior supports and interventions; restorative justice practices.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in working with diverse groups of students, teachers, and families.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated belief in high student academic achievement and PEACE Academy's mission and vision.
- Knowledge of strong pedagogical practices for classroom organization, planning, and effective execution of instruction.
- Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking and writing so others will understand.
- Flexibility and adaptability to in-person and virtual learning environments.
- Experience with educational software.
