Face to Face Interpreter - Dari

About the role

Face to face (not video or telephone) interpretation services are provided by Access 2 Interpreters, LLC, a leading local interpretation and translation business in Columbus. This role involves assisting others during medical, social service, and other types of appointments using your language skills.

Responsibilities

• Use your language skills to assist during appointments
• Work with clients in various settings such as healthcare, social services, etc.
• Interpret in English and Dari
• Decide your own schedule
• Available 24/7/365, but most assignments are requested during business hours
• Take as many or as few assignments as you can manage

Requirements

• Located in the Central Ohio area
• Have a High School Diploma or equivalent
• Be eligible to work in the United States
• Pass a Federal Criminal Background Check based on fingerprints and a 10-panel drug screening (no cost to you)
• Provide proof of program completion from an accredited interpreter training of at least 40 hours (e.g., Bridging the Gap, Access 2 Interpreters' "Access Academy", Court Interpretation, Certificate or Degree in interpretation from an accredited college or university)
• Provide Certification of Bilingual Proficiency or pay for and complete a 3rd Party Bilingual Fluency Evaluation through an accredited testing and evaluation organization

Qualifications

• Multilingual and fluent in English and Dari
• Open to those with no previous professional interpretation experience or speaking English as a second language (ESL)
