Fabricator/Welder
About the role
Safe Fleet, a leader in the truck equipment manufacturing industry, is seeking a Fabricator/Welder to join a team fabricating, installing, and repairing Automated Tarp Systems. This full-time position involves on-premises tarp system fabrication, repair, and installation for the trucking industry. The ideal candidate is a high-energy, physical individual with experience working on triaxle truck bodies and semi-trailers in a fast-paced, labor-intensive environment. This role requires motivation in a competitive industry and a focus on results, detail, and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Fabricates steel and other metal parts as indicated by work orders and blueprints.
- Maneuvers fabrication machines, such as grinders, drill presses, brakes, rolls, shears, and flame cutters to cut, grind, and adjust material.
- Sets up and operates gas welding machines to weld metal parts according to work orders, blueprint layouts, and verbal instructions, regulating flow of gases for proper mixture.
- Cleans parts to remove contamination prior to welding.
- Sets up and operates all phases of brazing applications using clamps, fixtures, and torches, working to specified tolerances and selecting proper flux.
- Sets up and operates stick welding machines to repair, join, or fabricate parts using blueprints, sketches, or verbal instructions.
- Reads a tape measure, uses hand tools, and operates semi-automatic manufacturing equipment.

Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent.
- 1 year of welding experience preferred.
- Certification preferred but not required.
