Position Summary
The Fabricator is responsible for assisting and providing general labor to production to aid in the manufacturing of MEI products.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepare material for the next process step. This includes deburring plastic, drill and tapping holes, straightening tubing, and cutting material to length.
- Preparing all parts and sub-assemblies for work to be accomplished using assembly instructions, blueprints, and parts lists.
- Assembling by measuring for the proper location and fastening parts to assemblies.
- Assist the CNC operator in loading and unloading material on the router table.
- Keep manufacturing free of debris and dirt by sweeping, collecting trash, and collecting and sorting recycling.
- Assist the materials group with the kitting of project parts when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, And Education)
- A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum 2 years’ general labor experience preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Good understanding of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words; and correct grammatical structure.
- Able to read and interpret manufacturing blueprints.
- Able to use multiple different types of hand tools.
- Able to follow verbal and written work instruction.
- Able to effectively understand and operate within safety guidelines and policies.
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to climb, stand; walk; sit; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; use fingers and hands to adjust straps, move equipment and perform daily duties; reach with hands and arms; push feet to operate crane; pull handles and grasp equipment; talk and hear.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The Fabricator is subject to possible exposure to extreme year-round outdoor environmental conditions and may also be subject to working weekends and holidays.
