About the role
The Welder is responsible for performing a variety of welding functions, maintaining and repairing equipment, and adhering to safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and drawings
- Maintain, repair, rebuild, and fabricate parts as needed
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and diagnose equipment issues
- Perform MIG, arc, and TIG welding, layout, and pipefitting functions
- Comply with plant, state, and federal safety regulations
- Use proper lock-out procedures and wear personal protective equipment
- Weld in various positions and inspect welds for specifications
- Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes
- Select appropriate torches, tips, filler metals, and fluxes based on material type and thickness
- Clean welds and remove excess materials
- Perform necessary maintenance and repair on welding equipment
- Move parts and finished products within the welding area
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a metal fabrication environment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Working knowledge of relevant manufacturers and industry standards (CMAA, HMI, ANSI, OSHA)
- Ability to lift or pull a minimum of 50 pounds
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent math skills and PC literacy (Microsoft Office)
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and disciplined
- Successfully completed a criminal background check, physical, drug screen, and E-verify
Qualifications
- Must be certified as a Welder (D14.1) within 30 days of hire
- Must possess a working knowledge of all applicable manufacturers and industry standards
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints
- Must be able to lift or pull a minimum of 50 pounds
- Must have strong analytical, conceptual, and planning skills
- Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and disciplined
- Must be able to multi-task
