About the role

The Welder is responsible for performing a variety of welding functions, maintaining and repairing equipment, and adhering to safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and drawings
  • Maintain, repair, rebuild, and fabricate parts as needed
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and diagnose equipment issues
  • Perform MIG, arc, and TIG welding, layout, and pipefitting functions
  • Comply with plant, state, and federal safety regulations
  • Use proper lock-out procedures and wear personal protective equipment
  • Weld in various positions and inspect welds for specifications
  • Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes
  • Select appropriate torches, tips, filler metals, and fluxes based on material type and thickness
  • Clean welds and remove excess materials
  • Perform necessary maintenance and repair on welding equipment
  • Move parts and finished products within the welding area
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a metal fabrication environment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Working knowledge of relevant manufacturers and industry standards (CMAA, HMI, ANSI, OSHA)
  • Ability to lift or pull a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent math skills and PC literacy (Microsoft Office)
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and disciplined
  • Successfully completed a criminal background check, physical, drug screen, and E-verify

Qualifications

  • Must be certified as a Welder (D14.1) within 30 days of hire
  • Must possess a working knowledge of all applicable manufacturers and industry standards
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints
  • Must be able to lift or pull a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Must have strong analytical, conceptual, and planning skills
  • Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and disciplined
  • Must be able to multi-task

Skills

  • Welding certification (D14.1)
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints
  • Working knowledge of industry standards (CMAA, HMI, ANSI, OSHA)
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and planning skills
  • Excellent math skills and PC literacy (Microsoft Office)
